Halloween – The Beginning: che combini Rob?
A me il Rob Zombie regista convince. Anzi no. Empatizzo con lui.
Nella Casa dei 1000 Corpi mi sono addirittura trovato a pensare che, se avessero dato a me la possibilità di girare un horror, avrei fatto esattamente come lui: lo avrei riempito di citazioni, situazioni e di riferimenti presi dalle centinaia di B-Movie che tanto ho amato, trasformando la pellicola in un pasticcio barocco, insensato e sovraccarico fino ad esplodere.
Invece il Rob Zombie di The Devil's Reject mi è piaciuto moltissimo, senza "se" e senza "ma". Lo trovo un road movie davvero d'alta scuola (scuola di genere, ovviamente), ipnotico, emozionante e coinvolgente nella caratterizzazione dei personaggi. Credo sarà uno dei pochi film horror moderni a passare davvero alla storia e dei quali i nostri figli si lamenteranno per il remake, a tempo debito! 
Ma il Rob Zombie di Halloween è semplicemente inaccettabile.
Quella di Michael Myers non è una gran storia. Non è complessa e neppure originale. Funziona solo nelle mani di un regista di mestiere e se la natura del mostro rimane completamente avvolta nel mistero, in modo che il film continui nelle teste degli spettatori.
Raccontare l'infanzia difficile di un paffutissimo Michael che un giorno si sveglia e diventa satana incarnato non è stata una buona scelta. Questo Halloween è un film vuoto come l'Uomo Ragno senza problemi familiari.
Per fortuna la signora Zombie che -permettetemi l'ardire- invecchia benissimo, vale sempre il prezzo del biglietto e anche Malcolm McDowell ha qualche sprazzo nella parte che fu di un Donald Pleasence decisamente più convincente.
Rob, per il futuro, rimani nel tuo ruolo e non spingerti oltre le donne licantropo delle SS, se non te la senti. Grazie.
