L’invasione degli Ultra Condensatori è cominciata… da un cacciavite!
E' facile volare con la fantasia quando si parla di UltraCondensatori (o SuperCondensatori che dir si voglia): apparentemente offrono vantaggi a 360° rispetto alle normali batterie agli ioni di litio.
Ma dove sono i prodotti commerciali? E' tecnologia reale o l'ennesima promessa energetica non mantenuta?
I primi prodotti commerciali ad impiegare questa tecnologia, antica nella teoria ma rivoluzionaria nei materiali, stanno finalmente arrivando sul mercato, con grande anticipo rispetto alle più rosee previsioni.
Il primo che ho scoperto è il Coleman Flashcell Cordless Screwdriver, ovvero un cacciavite elettrico che al posto delle tradizionali batterie utilizza un supercondensatore FlashCell.
I vantaggi? Durata del condensatore praticamente infinita (sicuramente maggiore del resto dei componenti), ricariche anche parziali senza rovinare la cella, 90 secondi per una carica, minor impatto ambientale.
Immaginatevi l'effetto di vedere l'indicatore di carica salire in solo un minuto e mezzo!
Il prezzo? Accettabilissimo, soprattutto considerando la novità del prodotto: 80$!
L'ultracacciavite ha già ricevuto la "benedizione" di Sua Maestà Popular Mechanics che in una recensione svela anche la capacità operativa dichiarata: è circa la metà dei prodotti tradizionali (22 viti contro 37), ed in effetti anche le prove dimostrano un'autonomia non molto brillante, problema però reso meno grave dai rapidissimi tempi di ricarica (minuti invece che ore).
Oltre ai nostri sogni, gli ultracondensatori sono pronti ad invadere anche le nostre case!
